Wanderer of Vine

week 1

East-Air-Spring-Birth-Sunrise-Swords

Passage Through Sensuous Being

The Wanderer of the Vine Tribe meet us as we step onto the path of the Vine Tree Cycle and assures us to slow down with our daily activities because we are already full and this will be a cycle of ripening. The Wanderer of Vine shares with us that this is a beautiful time to enter into a depth of relation with our body and to, for a time, enjoy the ecstasy of the sensuous nature of physical life. The Vine Wanderer invites us to slow down, pause and drink from the well of indulgence. This is truly a time of letting go and of enjoying the flavours and smell of the season.

The Wanderer of Vine's seat is in the East, the dwelling of the spirits of air and swords. The Wanderer of Vine remind us that duality is present and must be acknowledged. There is a pulsing pressure within us to break free at this time, to abandon our mundane repeated moments and to allow our inner wildness to dance. But we may be so tightly bound by certain perspectives that we struggle to release ourselves of. These perspectives may be goal driven or ego-centred, they may also be rooted in bypassing strategies that we have employed in order to focus our energy into one direction. The Wanderer of Vine advises us that the more we struggle the tighter our mind will constrict.

As Vine Tree Wanderers, we are encouraged to slow down first, to walk slowly and listen softly. We are gestalting beings, with many parts becoming activated, many parts wanting to drink until full. To surrender to this ripening of our parts we must attune to the subtler flow of our day. This will allow us to gently loosen, day by day until we feel unrestricted and able to explore the sensuous living moments as we move through the Vine Tree Cycle.

Journal prompt or something to contemplate:

Becoming Fallow is a gentle focused, grounding practice or can be a longer lifestyle choice for a time. Fallowing in a personal growth or spiritual practice involves a period of rest from activity during a growth cycle, while remaining present and receptive to sensuous experience. The Vine Tree cycle presents for us during mid-late summer, a time of lazy, long summer days, a time of natural slowing down and ripening. If things are a little tightly wound for us we can consider this practice to support our loosening up so that we may enjoy the rich blessings of this time.

Weaver of Vine

week 2

South-Fire-Summer-Youth-Midday-Wands

Passage - Encountering Quiet Fire

The Weaver of the Vine Tribe join us as we continue on our path and they speak to us of Quiet Fire for fire needs not always blaze and rage. There is a fire that is rare and lives deep in the psychic caves within our being. These cave spaces within us hold the primordial elements of our souls creation and are home to the Quiet Fire. The Weaver of Vine is interested in our evolution, in this life and beyond and reminds us that we are always in a state of unfolding. Unfolding that is born of the Quiet Fire is life altering and when we are held within Quiet Fire we are creative, yet not in a the creative process of making a something, but in the creation process of making ourselves. The Weaver of Vine offers us that Quiet Fire is not a relationship we can affect or control, that this sacred fire is it's own alive presence. But we can hold open space to facilitate the accommodation and unfolding of Quiet Fire and embrace the transformative path we are on at this time.

The Weaver of Vine's seats are in the South, the dwelling of the Spirits of Fire and the Midday Sun. The Weaver of Vine asks us about our centre point and whether we are oriented from our centre point or are rooted somewhere else on our axis. The Weaver of Vine reminds us 'if you are not navigating your path from the centre point then you will end up in the wrong place'. Vine season offers us sacred ground to rest and replenish, to hold space for fallowness in our lives. And with that we are pulled into alignment, pulled to our still point at the centre. The Weaver of Vine asks us to align our perspective to this centre point, to the midday sun above us, so that when we look ahead we will see a clear path.

As Vine Weavers we are ripening, this is an alchemical space that exists outside of time, if you will. A space not of metaphorical conception, growth, birth or death. But of ripening which is a beyond all of these inevitabilities. Ripening exits in a place that is not 'doing' and is simply 'being' in the primordial elements, a place of stillness and chaos. As Vine Weavers, in our lives it may be a time for us to simply be, exist out of time in the psychic caves of stillness and chaos. As Vine Weavers we must honour the ripening process, for not all that is created and comes into being has to be consciously, physically or actively conceived. 'There is much, waiting for a chance to find form of its own volition.'

Journal prompt or something to contemplate:

When was the last time something was born of us, that came from within us? An idea. From the primordial cosmic depths of stillness and chaos. Something that unfolded of its own volition and was necessary for our growth and evolution. We tend to think of creativity or creation as coming from the outside force of inspiration. We ask for inspiration, we think, we beseech our imagination, we strain our minds. Let us reflect on Quiet Fire, sit still while in this ripe yet fallow space and let go of thinking. We may encounter the spirit of Quiet Fire there and if we do we are lucky, we must simply honour the spirit.

Guide of Vine

week 3

West-Water-Autumn-Maturity-Sunset-Cups

Passage of the Wilting Rose

As we continue through the Vine Tree Cycle we encounter the Guide of the Vine Tribe. The Guide of the Vine Tribe speaks to us of the wilting beauty and the beauty in wilting. The Guide of the Vine Tribe seeks to know our emotions and especially those for how we feel about ourselves, the lives we have created and whether we are contented, 'for a un unfulfilled wilting beauty will turn bitter.' Beauty does not refer to physical appearance, however, it can. This more so relates to the beauty we had hoped to create in our lives, maybe through our work and career, or through our roles in our families, or in the art we have given to the world. And can also refer to our attractiveness, our intelligence, our creativity, our emotional warmth. The parts of ourselves that are our qualities that fulfil us, nourish us and that others are drawn to or that. The Guide of the Vine Tribe wonders if we are fulfilled, and asks us to reflect on this.

The Guide of Vine's seat is in the West, the dwelling of the Spirits of Water and the Autumn. The Guide of the Vine Tribe wonders if we know that fallowing earth allows the earth to retain and regulate water. The Guide of the Vine Tribe wonders how much emotion we are holding during this time of alchemical fallowing ripeness. And to be aware and ready in the event that our emotions seep through 'for what first seeps, later weeps'. The Guide of the Vine Tribe offers a gentle reminder that transformation is a messy business and not without hard work and effort. But this hard work and effort while at times is an highly animated process, such as in journaling or counselling, or workouts with blood, sweat and tears, the deeper change happens below the surface and is no less disruptive and we must not be absent minded of this occurring. We must be attentive to tending ourselves with the basic ingredients for nourishment and hydration.

As Vine Guides we are held within the grace of a space that honours our beauty and the beauty we have created and given. We are also in a reflective space wondering if we are satisfied with our beauty, was it enough, could we have given more, do we have regrets? Is our beauty wilting gracefully, still nourishing, with added attractiveness through age and wisdom, or are we feeling lacking, loss or becoming bitter. The Guide of Vine is a deeply warm and comforting presence and holds our hand in theirs for a moment of reassurance. Reminding us that our life unfolded the way it was meant to and we can't change what has past. But we can still create beauty in alive moments and still have so much to offer.

Journal prompt or something to contemplate:

The Vine Tree Cycle is a lovely time to sink into meditative tasks that are almost passive yet still have a grounded and present quality. This will be different for all of us but may include something like walking our beloved dog family, spending time sitting with them with gentle music or silence. Or enjoying the relaxing quality of housework, something that for many people is an automatic yet deeply meditative and grounding experience with the reward at the end of an ambient cosy home.. Or maybe focusing on cooking wholesome meals with attention on fresh produce and fragrant flavourful ingrediencies. Or even sitting somewhere peaceful and private for a time and maybe smoking some sacred rolling tobacco. Think of some examples that are natural to you and see if you can find the time for them, if it feels right, so that you may create beautiful, alive moments for yourself.

Spirit Keeper of Vine

week 4

North-Earth-Winter-Death-Night-Pentacles

Passage Towards 'Much & Many'

At the end of the path we find The Spirit Keeper of the Vine Tribe. They take in our countenance and assess our resolve. We wonder what it is that they see in us. And then we realise we are looking at our own reflection and it is we who gazes into our own depths. The Spirit Keeper of Vine speaks to us of our personal growth 'all that can happen, will happen', and then adds ' as long the earth was tended so'. During this time while we are in a rest period we are asked to think of the abundance we have received. Especially if we have received from the Quiet Fire Spirit or through our Becoming Fallow period. Abundance can come in many forms such as emotional support, mental stimulation, creative clarity or physical wealth. The Spirit Keeper of Vine reminds us that harvest is not a solitary event but an ongoing aliveness of time and if we have tended our earth great, but if not, better get to it as there is still time.

The Spirit Keeper of Vine's seat are in the North, the dwelling of the Spirits of Earth and Pentacles. The Spirit Keeper of Vine speaks to us of earth as a living conscious spirit, the oldest of spirits, living in the stones and mountains and in the soil of the land and the stars, and reminds us that if we want to build upon earth we must ask the spirit for the blessing of Much and Many and make an offering. Much and Many blessings are direct requests for what we need, with no beating about bushes. And as long as the request is made with integrity and is not selfish then asking as directly as possible is how its done. The Spirit Keeper of Vine reminds us of the power of alchemical space and especially those of earth magic.

As Vine Spirit Keepers we are moving through a deeply sacred time of ripe earth and an especially bountiful time for building for what we need that will carry us through the final harvest and the dark half of the year. Things that will provide for our hearth and home, our sense of security as well as our personal and emotional comfort and growth and that of any other loved ones who are with us. As Vine Spirit Keepers we are shown a path of contributing to the building of our lives that is attuned to the season of rest and that is meditative and grounding and of how to practice earth magic for abundance. We are keepers of the hearth and tenders of the flame.

Journal Prompts or things to contemplate:

Now is a good time to think of the things that are needed. It might be supportive to write a list. If it feels right to do so ask the earth beneath your feet, the stone, mountain or star for the blessings of 'Much and Many'. Make a small offering, a gentle whisper of a song maybe, a little bare foot walk or dance sharing some of your energy or some seed or water to replenish the earth. Remember what you asked for so that when you receive it you can be extra specially grateful and offer your 'thank you'.

Please Read

Wanderer, Weaver Guide and Spirit Keeper are storytellers and are laid out into four weeks of guidance through each tree cycle. These four sections while acting as weekly guidance, can also be experienced in any order. These weeks 1-4 are meant as a guideline only. We must trust in how the energies of the trees manifest for each of us individually along the path of the current tree cycle.
