Allowing The Inner Witch To be Fallow.
Summer offers all the blessings of the season of sunshine and growth in nature. For most plants and animals thrive in summer, basking under the warmth of the sun rays, food is abundant and life wants to find a mate and raise young.
For some of us however, as beautiful as the summer is and as much as we want to receive summer's blessings, we are destined to struggle with being active through the hotter months, we become tired and need so much more rest. This is because the summer is our sleeping season.
Witches will often have a favourite season, or a season that in more attuned to the witches internal nature. This is often true of witches who are deeply aligned with natures rhythms and are affected by natures cycles of change. Witches who are more 'awake' in the winter months with experience summer as their 'sleeping season'.
For these witches, they begin to wake up at summers end, the anticipation of the autumn and the sensing into the subtle changes in the weather will usher in a fresh wakefulness into the witches spirit. It wont be long before she is fully awake, having restored her life force energy and received her first insights of inspiration. She will feel more active and a sense of renewed joy and anticipation for all the blessings that will come to her over the course of the dark half of the year.
This witch in the summer is a whole other witch altogether. She may make a final push into July having enjoyed the spring and early summer with tending her garden and enjoying the warmer air. But as the heat increases through the summer months, her enjoyment of summers blessings begins to wane and dwindle and soon she feels the heavy atmosphere of intense summer weighing down on her. As though gravity itself has altered in her presence. She may finally give in somewhere in mid-summer and retreat indoors, often drawing blinds in an attempt to shield herself from the draining solar rays.
This is when a winter witch must allow herself to become fallow. She needs to honour her own internal compass and let it guide her into a hibernation. Returning into her psychic cave of stillness, into the womb from whence she was born, she must give in to this need for rest and restoration.
A witch in her fallow rest will allow her self the time and space to be nothing on the surface. This time is essential in restoring essential energy into her being for her next growth and magical cycle. There is also a disruptive quality to a witches fallow state which creates an interruption in any patterns of thoughts, feeling and behaviours that have been impeding her growth to die a natural death and decompose. thus becoming recycled by her, which becomes energy for a later time.
If you are a witch in your sleeping season, ask yourself where you may be along the path of it at this moment in time and if it is time for you to become fallow.
Yours in the psychic caves,
Mags Black.
The whole idea is revelatory to me. I feel a little tearful with relief that it is not some sort of crime to be tired, I think. Thank you for your insight Priestess.
