How To Get The Most From Your Sacred Fallow Time.
Entering into our sleeping season can be almost an unconscious event, because by the nature of it we are becoming tired and less active. To understand when this time happens for us personally is to armour ourselves before our 'sleeping season' begins with some foresight of what to expects from our natural rhythm during this time and to embrace this sacred time as a time of deep rest and regenerative growth when we emerge.
Here I offer a tarot spread, or you may use oracle if you with, or a combination of both, for laying down a little pre-sleeping season navigation before we enter into the psychic caves of quiet and stillness.
Becoming Fallow
1
2-3
4-5

What activates my sleeping season?
How does my sleeping season benefit me?
What do I need to step away from to enter into sacred fallow time?
How can I enhance my sacred fallow space?
What in will become disrupted during my fallow period?
What blessings can I look forward to receiving if I allow myself this sacred personal time?
Position 1 asks us what in our everyday life, our environment or our experiences activates the instinct within us to slow down and enter into a 'sleeping season'. This may be a particular season of nature, a cycle or pattern that recurs in our life or even specific events that engage us in the need to rest.
Position 2 asks us to deepen in our knowing of why we need to enter into a 'sleeping 'season. There will be an overall benefit for us in our life. It may be that we need to rest and replenish our energy and physical strength, or maybe e need to go through a loss experience after a creative project, or study period has been completed or maybe we need to grow and change and this is the only way we can approach our transformation through a metamorphosis pupal stage.
Position 3 asks us what do we need to step away from but really infers what 'can' we step away from in order to hold space for ourselves. Often we won't allow ourselves space because we hold ourselves accountable for more responsibilities that are essential. We don't always acknowledge our needs but when we change our language to 'I can' we create space and a decompression of the weight of responsibility. So really, what will be okay if we leave it a while?
Position 4 asks us what will make our fallow time extra rich? Do we need darkened rooms or comfort food. Will binge watching Netflix support us to lay fallow? Do we need sacred items to accompany us such as body or bath oils, sacred herbs, special blend teas, a good book or our cosiest tarot or oracle deck? What makes us feel cosy and cared for? Or do we simply need our bed?
Position 5 speaks to us of the fallow time in terms of the life cycle of our inner thoughts, emotions and behaviours. And asks us have any of these become troublesome for us. Becoming fallow can disrupt the pattern, and interrupt the repetitiveness of our personal expressions that have become challenging for us. Breaking the habitual cycle allowing us to let go and recycle old patterns and habits that have impeded our growth and prevented us from thriving in areas of our life.
Position 6 does not speak to us of goals, because they are activity oriented. It is important not to hold onto position 6 to tightly. Instead allow a gentle curiosity to descend into our awareness now. This position asks us to let our imagination be free and go in natural directions into the future or our hopes and dreams. What would be nice for us in time? How would we like ourselves to be in our core being, when we awaken from our sleeping season and our being is replenished and rich in energy once more? Just a simple thought here is asked of us, a single word maybe.
Yours in the psychic caves,
Mags Black.
Thank you for this Priestess. I LOVE the idea of a sleepy season! That is Winter for me though really hot summer days are certainly conducive to languid dreaming. I will try the spread when the first snow falls.
Awesome thanks
