And the sensing-scapes of reflection.
Each witch finds her way through her practice and through her many years of experience often allowing herself and her craft to unfold naturally, and this was the way of it for me.
I followed the callings. The signs and the omens that led my instinct down the pathways and the experience-ways of that which I needed to know into myself. Bringing the knowing into ourselves allows something to affect us. And this is how I know witchcraft to be. The allowing the knowing to affect us and for every fibre of our being to be touched and felt by it.
I have walked many pathways and experience-ways through my witchcraft. I have been a witch from my earliest memory and so I have a fair amount of knowings that live and gestalt within me. Gathered from this life and remembered from the many other past lives. And one thing I know to be constant is how I do relate to my world and this is through my mirror touch sensitivity.
Mirror touch sensitivity I would describe as a neurodiverse type of sensing the world. It is a form of synaesthesia and something I have always experienced. Synaesthesia is described as a crossing over of the senses. Mirror-touch is one of the forms of synaesthesia that I experience along side grapheme-colour which is when a person sees numbers and letters in colours. Mirror touch synaesthesia is more complex. It allows me to physically feel in my body through sensations, the things I see and the things I hear. The sensations are numerous and can vary between the feeling of a flowing ripple of energy that goes through my body, to more sudden sensations like the shock of receiving a hit to my body. This ability I believe has influenced my spiritual path and my own magical practices and has lead me down an organic pathway into felt-sensing ways as described in Focusing theory by Gene Gendlin and is deeply animistic and naturally shamanic,
The mirror touch has also influenced how I relate to my immediate environment of nature and the rhythms of nature through the seasons. And has especially spoken to my own insight of The Celtic Tree Calendar, through which I journeyed for many years before eventually creating my own calendar. My own reflective calendar which included the trees from the opposite side of the year I called The Council of Tress. And these trees I felt the alive vibration of as I journeyed through the calendar, from the other half of the year.
The mirror touch is no clearer seen and better understood than in the Tree Whisper Oracles. A set of three oracle decks, that I co-created with the spirits of nature through the use of mirror image photography. Through the mirrored images the reflections of the trees, plants and mosses came alive and were given a voice through tree spirits and animal spirit guides that morphed into being with expression and personality.
The folding of light has been another focus of my mirror touch sensitivity. I have always described how I see things as 'through the folds of light' I believe that light folds in on itself and creates pathways and doorways through the parallel reflections. This is especially true of woodlands where light bends often and of water. These are the hidden pathways, the labyrinths that the spirits of nature use to move between spaces of matter.
In the wider sense, being reflective is my nature, I am deeply contemplative and choose to think and feel more than I speak. I am a solitary person and in my presence I live on the edge of the village, if not deep in the woods then high on a hill, or by the sea, I might as well be miles away. I am also still and grounded in the present moment, a quiet observer of the business that goes on around me. Which is also another mirror touch sensitivity. The ability to be in one place physically, yet also be sensing into the spirit of another.
These reflective sesnsing-scapes are mysterious yet also known, to those who use them. By nature they are deeply animistic and move through shamanic pathways of knowings. For me, this is like living in one life and also holding within myself the knowingness of other lives. The Cult of the Deer Priestess's being my farthest reaching knowing of my past lives. Witches who are attuned to their past lives and feel them as alive, yet from another time, are moving through sensing-scapes of reflection.
The sensing-scapes of reflection offer the witch a parallel perspective on things. Where by she is moved in ways by all that she comes into contact with and all that is physically opposite her. The animism of this is that she not only feels the aliveness in all that animates in nature, but also all that is generally perceived as inanimate. She is made aware of the subtle dimensions of vibrational energy that others may not notice, including those of spirit.
These reflections are intelligent and informing and share knowings with this witch who has these fuller bodily sensing ears to listen with. This makes this witch deeply psychic and highly empathic. She understands things in felt-sensing ways that others do not. She sees things that are hidden from view. She sees around the blind corner and beyond the horizon. And is especially attuned to practices that involve divination, remote viewing and shamanism.
Does this witch sound like you?
We all have within us a world of knowings. The witchcraft is the attunment to these knowings through focus and reflection and to be both the water and the stars reflected on it.
Yours in the psychic caves.
Mags Black.
